Oasis opens its first standalone store in Worcester as new retailers flock to Crowngate Shopping Centre

High street fashion brand Oasis is to open its first-ever standalone store in Worcester. The new 1,480 sq ft store in Crowngate’s Chapel Walk comes following a flurry of lettings activity at the centre. To find out more about the store click here

A Write Card, part of the Card Party group, is another new entrant to the city, and is joined by new independents First Class Turkish Barbers, and Sundance Fair Trade.

Coming to the city for the first time, A Write Card has taken 1,500 sq ft in Chapel Walk on Worcester’s Broad Street. The brand offers greeting cards and gift wrap for all occasions, as well as an extensive party range, soft toys and gifts.

First Class Turkish Barbers is a new independent brand which has chosen to launch its first branch in Worcester. Its new 340 sq ft Unicorn Walk store will complement the existing offering from independent retailers within Crowngate Shopping Centre which includes the Retro Sign Company and Rags, the family-run haberdashers.

Sundance Fair Trade, the specialist fair trade gift company, has returned to Worcester, having previously traded during previous Christmas seasons. The success enjoyed by the independent company, where it has been trading from a 450 sq ft store in Unicorn Walk, has led it to extend its presence up until summer 2018.

Other recent news for Crowngate Shopping Centre includes the £500,000 refurbishment and upsize of the city’s Iceland store, which has been based in Friary Walk since the centre opened 25 years ago.

Spa Books is another independent operator which has relocated to Crowngate’s Unicorn Walk. With its new 528 sq ft space, Spa Books will continue to offer Worcester shoppers the best of fiction, non-fiction and specialist titles with dedicated events to get readers closer to literature.

Nicole Campbell, asset manager at The Crown Estate, said: “Following the excitement of our 25th birthday in 2017, I am delighted that we are attracting leading UK retailers, like Oasis, to the city and that we continue to be the home of one-of-a-kind independents. It is this blend of big names and boutique brands which makes Worcester so special. Our strategy for Crowngate is to ensure we continue to carefully curate this mix of retail to ensure that Worcester remains an outstanding destination for local shoppers and tourists alike.”

Savills (Bristol) & MMX Retail have advised on the leasing at Crowngate.
